In this poetry collection... Experience the insidious pain that comes with relational trauma then, with the author, join on the journey of healing. Beauty Born of Pain contains four groupings of poetry. Secrets details the experience of an abusive marriage. Echoes deals with memories of childhood coming back once free of the relationship. Damage is about the lingering effects of the past on mind and body. The final section, Recovery, is about moving forward with hope and healing.

Sorry Not Sorry

I’m sorry

but I don’t think I have

to apologize for.

It was you

who raised your hand,

a surprise in the night

so often I stopped sleeping

naked, because

it made me more vulnerable.

It was you

whose tongue cut,

with edges like slips of shale,

the bite of a whip,

bringing me to my knees.

It was you

who undermined every move,

countered every effort,

like a strategic game of Risk

you didn’t need to win

as long as I was the loser.
